Warnings & battery information

Warning and care instructions

on the use and storage of rechargeable batteries for e-bikes, pedelecs & co.

General information

Before using the battery, read all the warnings and instructions in this user manual carefully!

It is recommended that you keep these warnings to hand so that they are available to you at all times. If you pass the battery on to a third party, either individually or installed, please also hand over these warnings.

The rechargeable batteries used in e-bikes are generally safe when used as intended. However, due to the composition of the batteries, their high energy density and the ever-present risk of incorrect use or storage, considerable damage and danger to life and limb can never be ruled out. It is therefore important that you take note of and follow the following information.

Warnings

Caution! Risk of fire and explosion!

If a battery is damaged, e.g. due to a fall, overheating, loss of liquid or outgassing may occur. The battery may catch fire during operation, charging or even when not in use. Even if no external damage is visible, internal damage can set the battery on fire immediately or only after a longer period of time. There is a risk of objects in the vicinity catching fire and endangering property, life and limb.

It is therefore essential to follow the instructions for use and care below in order to minimize the dangers described as far as possible!

If you notice that the battery has been dropped or has been subjected to any other mechanical impact, stop using the battery or have it checked by a specialist dealer! Under no circumstances should you open the battery yourself or attempt to repair it!

In the event of a fire, call the fire department immediately! If possible, you can cool the battery with plenty of sand. Burning batteries are very difficult to extinguish; burning battery cells can generally only be allowed to burn down in a controlled manner.

Caution! Risk of injury!

Liquids, gases or vapors may escape if the battery is damaged or in the event of a fire. This can result in serious injury to external and internal organs. If lithium escapes in the event of damage, this substance can cause severe burns to the skin.

Avoid skin contact and do not inhale gases and vapors! Escaping acid can be highly corrosive and cause permanent damage to objects.

Instructions for use and care

1. Only use the battery in conjunction with compatible devices!

- Only use the battery in e-bikes that are designated as suitable by the manufacturer of the e-bike and the battery! If in doubt, ask a specialist!

4. Ensure safety when charging the battery!

- Follow the instructions of the e-bike and battery manufacturer for the charging process!
- Always charge an empty battery immediately!
- Only use compatible and undamaged chargers to charge the battery!
- Never charge a battery that is or could be damaged!
- If possible, place the battery on a non-flammable or flame-resistant surface during the charging process!
- Only charge the battery under constant supervision!
- Keep a safe distance from flammable materials during the charging process!
- Always disconnect the charger from the battery when the charging process is complete!

5. Disposal of rechargeable batteries

- Batteries are hazardous materials! Do not dispose of batteries with household or residual waste! Always handle rechargeable batteries with the utmost care!
- Collect rechargeable batteries that are no longer usable separately and recycle them in an environmentally friendly manner! Dispose of rechargeable batteries at a collection point for electrical appliances!
- If a rechargeable battery is damaged or you suspect damage, ask a specialist dealer about disposal if in doubt! If the battery is damaged, transport it in an acid-proof and fireproof container!
