Wenn der Motor laut heult und die Maschine trotzdem standhaft bleibt, ist mit Sicherheit die Kupplung hinüber.
Ran an den Wechsel!
Je nach Belastung der Kupplung und Alter der Maschine tritt mit der Zeit Verschleiß an den Reib- und Stahlscheiben auf - bei einem hauptsächlich in der Stadt gefahrenen Motorrad eher als bei einem Landstraßenräuber. Wenn die Kupplung keinen richtigen Kraftschluss aufbaut, ist folgendes Bild zu beobachen: Gasgeben wird nicht umgehend in Beschleunigung der Maschine umgesetzt, sondern der Motor "heult auf", weil die "Kupplung rutscht". Dann sind entweder die Kupplungsbeläge abgeschliffen, ausgebrochen oder anderweitig beschädigt, oder die Stahlscheiben sind krumm (oder beides); es können auch die Kupplungsfedern "lahm" geworden sein. In einem solchen Fall baut man neue Reib- und Stahlscheiben ein und tauscht bei der Gelegenheit auch die Federn.
