Zündkerzen erfüllen durch das Entzünden des Benzin-Luft-Gemischs einen unverzichtbaren Vorgang im Verbrennungsmotoren. Jedoch verschleißen Zündkerzen z.B. durch zu hohe Einspritzmengen. Dies erkennt man in der Regel, wenn sich Rußpartikel auf der Zündkerze absetzten oder die Elektrode verbrannt ausschaut. Dies hat zur Folge, dass der Motor Ihres Zweirads schlecht anspringt und/oder unruhig läuft.
1979 wurde die NGK SPARK PLUG Deutschland GmbH in Ratingen gegründet. Die deutsche Tochtergesellschaft wurde 1989 in NGK SPARK PLUG Europe GmbH umbenannt und übernahm die Verantwortung für das europäische Geschäft.
