The name Zündapp-Werke GmbH comes from the founding company “ZÜNDer-APParatebau-GmbH”, which Fritz Ludwig Neumeyer founded together with two partners in 1916. Until 1921, they mainly manufactured armaments for artillery purposes. From this point onwards, the focus was on motorcycle and engine production and the first machines were sold in 1922. Over the years, production increased and Zündapp became one of the five most important motorcycle factories in Europe.

The bearing consists of an inner ring and an outer ring, between which balls reduce the frictional resistance. The balls are kept at the same distance by a so-called “cage”. The resulting rolling friction is relatively low, as the rolling elements roll on hardened steel surfaces with optimized lubrication.
